TIMBERTANDEM
One saw. Two handles. Keep your temper.
Victorian geese, Grandma’s woodpile, and Old Misery, a crosscut saw with a famously short temper.

Online duo

One saw between two homes. Each home has its own screen and one player; the host’s screen runs the saw.

Talk over your own call — a phone call, FaceTime or Discord. The song keeps you both on the beat.

How to saw with Old Misery

  1. Pull to you, then let go. Your partner pulls on the next beat. One stroke per beat — the song keeps time.
  2. Never push. Shove the saw and the blade bows. Past the red line, Old Misery throws a tantrum and you lose the stroke.
  3. Chop when your face glows. The notch comes first: small hatchet chops, below your shoulders, taking turns.
  4. Twist to steer. Roll your fist like turning a key to aim the fall at the skid — not Grandma’s privy.
  5. Small strokes are plenty. Sawing faster never cuts faster.
Keyboard: left handle F pull · D chop · Q/W steer — right handle J · K · O/P

Grandma’s woodpile needs two

Each player scans their handle’s code. One phone each — held in a firm fist, like a saw handle.
Waiting for both handles…
Before we saw
  • Clear some space — away from the TV, lamps and each other.
  • Firm fist around the phone, or a case strap.
  • Small strokes work. Nothing rewards big ones.
  • Small chops, below your shoulders. Never overhead.
  • Play at your own risk; stop if anything hurts.
Tap Got it on a phone, or press Enter.
